Northfield Mayor Erland Chau, who faces criminal charges after allegedly threatening a woman with a starter pistol during a parking dispute earlier this month, has been on medical leave since Oct. 7, City Clerk Mary Canesi said at the beginning of Tuesday night’s City Council meeting. Chau did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday night, and has not returned earlier calls about the charges.
