A Pennsylvania man was arrested Tuesday in Galloway Township after he allegedly tried to scam an elderly couple out of $60,000 by posing as a federal agent, police said. Dipen Patel, 51 was charged with theft by unlawful taking. He was released on a summons as multiple search warrants are pending, police said in a Facebook post. According to the Press of Atlantic City officers received a call at 4 p.m. from a woman who said her parents withdrew a large amount of money from their bank account, police said. The woman told police her parents were on the phone with an individual who claimed several bank accounts were opened using one of their Social Security numbers.
