South Jersey Extended Care in Bridgeton has consistently been the worst-rated nursing home in the state, according to the Office of the State Comptroller.In an article in the Press of Atlantic City the owners funneled millions to themselves while starving the facility, according to the state agency.Now, the facility is barred from receiving Medicaid payments, after the comptroller’s investigation of five years of operation found it was run as a way to funnel millions to a man who had been barred from owning nursing homes in Connecticut and Massachusetts and two of his relatives, acting Comptroller Kevin Walsh said Thursday during a news conference.
