School Board Member Lawsuit

In Atlantic City a former school board member Farook Hossain is still fighting a lawsuit by the school district over claims he and his wife allegedly lied about living in the city and about their income on applications to get free or reduced-price lunches for their two children. In a Dec. 18 decision, a state Appellate Court judge sent part of the case back to Atlantic County Superior Court Judge John C. Porto, who had awarded the district about $68,000 in 2021 to cover tuition for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years, when Porto found the family actually had lived in Egg Harbor Township.
