The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has launched a new unit intended to help suspects who qualify avoid jail time.Prosecutor William Reynolds said Monday in a statement.The unit covers five programs:Pretrial intervention: First-time offenders, most often charged with third- and fourth-degree crimes, may apply to have those charges dismissed following 12 to 36 months of law-abiding behavior.
