Hundreds Rally In Atlantic City In Support of Immigrant Trust Act

Hundreds of people turned out outside state Sen. Vince Polistina’s office Monday afternoon to urge support for the Immigrant Trust Act. The proposed bill would ban government health care entities from collecting information about a person’s immigration or citizenship status unless necessary to receive benefits. It would also make it illegal to share such information without written permission from the person involved. The Press of Atlantic City reports the measure was introduced in the state Senate in September and released to the Judiciary Committee. A companion bill was introduced in the Assembly in October and referred to the Oversight, Reform and Federal Relations Committee.
