In Maurice River Township a recently married couple from Mays Landing died early Saturday after the vehicle they were in collided head on with an alleged drunken driver on Route 552, State Police said. Thomas Splinter, 57, was driving a Honda west on 552 near milepost 19.4 when an eastbound Kia driven by Levon Woods, 25, of Atlantic City, crossed the centerline and struck their vehicle at 4:13 a.m., State Police said. Splinter and passenger Nancy Orellana-Splinter, 29, were pronounced dead at the scene, State Police said. A Facebook post shows the Splinters were married in September.
