Replacement of the Grassy Sound fishing pier, on what is left of the old Grassy Sound bridge from Middle Township to North Wildwood, is expected to be completed by May or June.The pier has been closed due to structural concerns. In 2023 the Cape May County commissioners approved replacement of the pier, which has been a popular fishing and crabbing location for generations, with new timber.
