Wildwood Crest Planning To Bow Out Of Beach Replenishment Plan

Wildwood Crest plans to withdraw from a state and federal beach replenishment plan that its officials and many residents say offers only downside to the local community. The Press of Atlantic City reports during a meeting Wednesday morning, the Borough Commission decided to place a resolution on the agenda for its next meeting March 12 formally withdrawing from the beach project, which would be carried out by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in tandem with the state Department of Environmental Protection. Building new dunes seems unnecessary, Mayor Don Cabrera said, for a community that already has an extensive dune system.
