The Upper Township Committee on Monday unanimously appointed longtime member John Brittin chief of the division of emergency medical services.EMTs and members of the township’s volunteer fire companies, as well as Brittin’s family, attended the meeting at which Mayor Curtis Corson swore Brittin in to the job. He was the deputy chief when he began serving as acting chief in February.His salary as chief is $94,000.Corson said Brittin has been an asset to the EMS service.Brittin thanked his family and the firefighters. He said he began when he was still in high school.
