The Atlantic City Police Department was recently awarded a grant from Highway Traffic Safety – Atlantic-Cape May Region for a comprehensive pedestrian safety project aimed at decreasing pedestrian crashes through education, enforcement, and public awareness. Beginning April 15, police officers will begin conducting enforcement operations throughout high-volume pedestrian areas that will continue through the summer. Those who violate the existing traffic laws could be subject to citation and provided with an educational pamphlet explaining the importance of pedestrian safety.
