Ocean City City Council member Keith Hartzell continued his push to create a beachfront playground at Fifth Street and the Boardwalk, vowing at a recent meeting to raise the money needed for its construction.According to the Press of Atlantic City “I believe in this, I think, more than I’ve ever believed in anything in my whole life,” said Hartzell, who represents the 2nd Ward. “And I’m willing to go past any obstacle that there is.” At previous meetings, he has described seeing large-scale playgrounds in Florida communities and has called for creating such an attraction where there are now volleyball courts on a sandy stretch between the Boardwalk and a city parking area in the same block as Ocean City High School.
