Middle Township Post Offices

Two Middle Township post offices are set to be named for people this year, one for a World War II veteran, another for a Reconstruction-era congressman.Mayor Chris Leusner announced the coming changes to the post offices in the Rio Grande and Whitesboro sections of the township during a Monday meeting of the Township Committee.Details were also posted to the township website. Ceremonies are planned to mark the changes in the fall.In Rio Grande, the post office at 1087 Route 47 near Railroad Avenue will be named for Carlton H. Hand, a lifelong resident of the community who was honored for bravery in Italy during World War II. He died in 1961.
