Galloway Township residents have waited for a new supermarket since hearing that Village Super Market Inc. had purchased 15.38 acres at 501 E. Jimmie Leeds Road for just over $1 million to build a new ShopRite. According to the Press of Atlantic City, six years later, the first steps have been taken to prepare the site for a supermarket by cutting down trees to make way for construction. Trees were cleared this spring ahead of the arrival of migrating bats this summer.
