Smalls Back In Court Thursday

Atlantic City’s mayor and his superintendent wife are due back in court Thursday afternoon to continue a hearing on motions throw out evidence in their now-separate cases alleging they abused their teenage daughter. BreakingAC.com reports Dr. La’Quetta Small successfully argued last week to be tried separately from her husband, Mayor Marty Small. Their attorneys argue that the girl’s boyfriend who was on the other end of a phone call did not have consent to record the interactions. Prosecutors previously argued said consent was clear in the daughter’s actions, which included insisting that her boyfriend stay on the phone muted, sending texts to him to confirm he could hear what was happening and putting her phone facedown to avoid her parents seeing a call was ongoing.
