Atlantic County Child Tests Positive For West Nile Virus

An Atlantic County child is one of the state’s first human cases of West Nile virus this year, the New Jersey Department of Health said Thursday. According to the Press of Atlantic City, the child, who has since been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home, reported symptoms the third week of July.
The state did not identify what town the child was from, but the county has reported collecting West Nile-positive mosquito samples this year from Linwood, Somers Point, Northfield, Pleasantville and Ventnor.
