Atlantic County Wraps Up Summer Task Force Aimed At High Risk Driving

In 2024, Atlantic County experienced 58 fatal motor vehicle fatalities, the second highest in New Jersey. In response, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Atlantic County Association of Chiefs of Police launched the CARE (County of Atlantic Reduction and Enforcement) Task Force to address Fatal Crashes. The CARE Task Force recently concluded its summer campaign, conducting six, 4-hour enforcement and education operations across Atlantic County that resulted in:
• 660 motor vehicle stops
• 529 traffic citations issued
• 11 arrests
• 14 vehicles towed
These efforts focus on high-risk behaviors such as impaired and distracted driving, excessive
speed, pedestrian safety violations, and other dangerous violations that often contribute to fatal
crashes
