The City of Atlantic City has seen an increase in the number of car burglaries and thefts throughout the city. Many of these crimes are crimes of opportunity that include burglarizing an unlocked car or stealing one that is running.
Remember, the easiest way and most frequent occurrence of entering a car, is someone walking through a neighborhood and pulling on door handles. We are asking the Atlantic City community to help us in deterring this activity by following the tips below. Authorities say:
* DO NOT leave keys in or around vehicle.
* DO NOT leave your car running when it is unlocked or unattended.
* DO NOT leave high-value items such as electronics, purses or wallets visible.
* DO NOT leave mail in your vehicle which could lead to identity theft.
* DO NOT leave garage door opener in your vehicle which could lead to entering your home.
