The city’s rules governing e-bikes will get a close look in 2026, Jim Moffatt told City Council at its second meeting in December.The leader of the city’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Committee spoke during the public hearing on an ordinance setting new rules for the motor-assisted bicycles.As city attorney Christopher Gillin-Schwartz described the ordinance at the meeting, the rules match those of neighboring Lower Township and West Cape May. The area between Cape May and the Garden State Parkway, Schellingers Landing, is part of Lower Township, and West Cape May and Cape May share a police department.
