Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian, longtime owner of Wonderland Pier on the resort’s boardwalk, faces nearly $6 million in debt and a sharp decline in personal income, according to a federal bankruptcy court filing. NJ.com reports Gillian announced intentions to declare personal bankruptcy earlier this month while vowing to remain in office and run for reelection. He has served as mayor since 2010, following in the footsteps of his father, Roy, who also held the post and founded Wonderland Pier.
