Wildwood has become the latest municipality to join the Cape May County shared emergency dispatch service, in the process “closing the Wildwood Police Department Communications Division for the first – and final – time,” according to a police statement. The move took nearly a year to accomplish, after the city announced the changeover at the Jan. 22 Board of Commissioners meeting. At the time, there was concern for the jobs of the eight dispatchers working for the city. As of Dec. 10, there were five remaining, and all five are being picked up by Cape May County central 911 dispatch, which is located at the Cape May Airport complex.
