An early morning fire led to the evacuation of an Atlantic City high-rise Wednesday. BreakingAC.com reports the fire started in the bedroom of an eighth-floor unit at the Brighton Towers. The call came in before 5 a.m., with firefighter at the station two blocks away responding. Police officers also responded to help get residents out.
A police officer suffered smoke inhalation, and was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released, Police Chief James Sarkos said.
