Former Governor Murphy Pardoned AC Man Just Hours Before He Left Office

An Atlantic City man was convicted in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in 2022. BreakingAC.com reports Harris Jacobs’ first trial in May ended the jury unable to make a unanimous decision. But jurors at his retrial found him guilty Tuesday, after a little more than a day of deliberations. In the end, it did not matter. Jacobs was given a pardon in the last round of those granted by now-former Gov. Phil Murphy, just hours before left office. Without it, he would have faced a mandatory sentence of five to 10 years. The pardon was issued before the jury reached its verdict.
