Atlantic County commissioners have taken the first formal steps toward a potential sale of Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, citing years of mounting operating losses, rising labor costs and limits on the county’s ability to control expenses as a public facility. The board unanimously approved three resolutions at its Dec. 16 meeting that enable the county to authorize the subdivision of the Meadowview property, hire a consultant experienced in nursing home sales and initiate a legally required public process that could culminate in a public auction of the facility.
