Atlantic County jail inmates had lots of complaints about the cold this weekend. But the heat is working, county Director of Public Safety Mike Fedorko told BreakingAC. Vent cleaning over the weekend led to inmates being moved to another cell block so the cleaning could be conducted safely, he said. Sources within the jail did confirm that inmates were given extra blankets overnight as temperatures dipped well below freezing.
The heat did stop working about three weeks ago, prompting large diesel trailers being brought in to pump heat into the facility, Fedorko said.
