Report: Hamilton Township Seeking New Places To Get Snow Melting Supplies

After a statewide salt shortage slowed its response to last month’s major storm, a South Jersey township plans to find new sources for melting ice and snow on its roads, its mayor said. NJ.com reports the mayor of Hamilton Township in Atlantic County, said Monday that officials will consult salt providers in Delaware and Maryland to bolster the municipal supply. A ship carrying hundreds of tons of road salt for the region remains delayed in icy Delaware River waters. The salt shipments are just miles away, where a commercial ship is expected to deliver a supply to the Camden Waterfront area, Hamilton Township Administrator Brett Knoll said. Those loads will then be distributed across the region.
