An investigation is underway after prosecutors said human remains were discovered in a wooded area in Cape May County, New Jersey. NBC 10 reports according to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, on March 3, 2026, a county resident was walking in a wooded area in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township and discovered what appeared to be a human skull. Prosecutors said following the report, investigators conducted a coordinated search of the surrounding area. As a result of that search, prosecutors said skeletal remains believed to be those of an adult were located and recovered. At this time, a positive identification has not been made, and an investigation remains ongoing, prosecutors shared.
