A Queens man accused of scamming a Mays Landing man out of nearly $70,000 by threatening arrest will remain in jail. According to BreakingAC.com, 20 year old Gurpreet Singh claimed to be the head of the Federal Trade Commission when in a phone call to the victim the week of March 8. Singh allegedly told the 55-year-old man that was be investigating for money laundering and would be arrested if he did not pay his debt. The man gave Singh a box containing $63,000 when he was driven to the man’s home March 12. Afterward, the victim sent photos of gift cards totalling another $6,000 in lululemon gift cards, according to the charges. A few days later, the victim started to suspect it was a scam and notified police.
