A dog was rescued and a firefighter injured in a house fire Monday afternoon. According to BreakingAC.com, Egg Harbor Township volunteer firefighters responded to the fire at 207 Laguna Drive. Officers Darren Hewitt and Chris Wagner made several attempts to make contact with the homeowners before knocking down the door to make sure no one was inside. There were no people found, but the family dog was rescued. Egg Harbor Township EMS and AtlantiCare Paramedics already on scene treated a firefighter who was injured while inside the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to have started accidentally in a heating unit in the attic.
