The Margate Fire Department was dispatched to 8401 Wellington Ave., on the corner of Jerome and Wellington avenues, shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday. A 911 caller reported there was smoke and flames coming from the back of the house. According to BreakingAC.com, firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. and removed siding on the house and checked for extension of the fire up to the second floor storage area over the garage. Due to extensive smoke damage, the house was deemed uninhabitable. The cause remains under investigation.
