The end of the Wildwood Crest borough’s fishing pier is hundreds of feet from the high tide line, so it’s a long walk off an already lengthy pier in Wildwood Crest.Due to the borough’s constantly expanding beach surpassing multiple extensions, no one has been able to fish off the pier at Heather Road for decades. At an estimated cost of $5.5 million to $6 million, the most recent plan, which was considered at a Board of Commissioners meeting on Wednesday, would extend the pier by at least 1,000 feet, reintroducing fishing lures to the ocean.
