In Middle Township there’s mixed reaction to launching a K-9 unit. Months after taking charge of the township Police Department, Chief Jennifer Pooler wants to launch a K-9 unit. She made the pitch at the Monday workshop meeting of the Township Committee. It will be up to committee members to decide whether to move forward with the unit, and officials made no commitment. After the meeting, Mayor Tim Donohue said the township, and other communities, have had trouble filling jobs with the Police Department, which they say may make it a bad time for the start of a new unit.
