Stanley Holmes Village Residents Look For Quicker Repairs Route

The Press of Atlantic City reports tenants are asking a Superior Court judge to “take more forceful action” to require the Atlantic City Housing Authority to protect their health and safety, almost a year after they filed suit over conditions at Stanley Holmes Village. Residents are asking the court to require the authority to install a replacement heating system by a specific date, and to start the process immediately. In the year since the city declared an emergency at the 420-unit public housing complex, the authority has spent millions of dollars repairing ancient boilers and gas lines, but still there is no consistent heat and hot water, and some gas lines — even those supposedly repaired — are leaking.
