On January 3, 2024, Detective James Barrett of the Special Investigations Section was conducting surveillance in the area of the first block of south Bellevue Avenue. Detectives observed several men loitering in the area. He observed one of the men, 24 year old Jayquan Granderson, engage in a drug transaction with 39 year old Patrick Novack. Novack was arrested as he left the area and found to be in possession of a small amount of cocaine and paraphernalia that is commonly used to consume cocaine.
Granderson was also arrested and found to be in possession of 21 grams of cocaine and more than $500 in cash. One of the men in the group, 22 year old Naheem Prater, was arrested and found in possession of 50 individual bags of heroin and eight vials of cocaine.
