The Atlantic City Police Department announces the swearing in of 30 new police officers, two retired officers to the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer, and the promotion of one police officer to the rank of sergeant of police.
A swearing in ceremony was held at the Atlantic City Convention Center. The hiring of the 30 new police officers was made possible by an award for $3,750,000 from the Community Oriented Policing Services Hiring Grant. This grant will allow the police department to assign officers to positions such as School Resource Officers and Traffic Safety Enforcement Officers.
For the first time, the department also swore in two retired law enforcement officers to Special Law Enforcement Officer, Class III. These officers will be assigned as School Resource Officers within the City’s public schools.
