A 13 year old is the suspect in a number of motor vehicle thefts in the past two months in Lower Township. The Cape May County Herald reports the investigation culminated in a search warrant being executed at the suspect’s residence, where evidence pertaining to the investigation was seized. As a result, the juvenile was charged with multiple counts of motor vehicle theft, criminal mischief and burglary and released to his guardian, pending court proceedings. The Lower Township Police Department reminds residents to take precautions when securing their vehicle. Simple steps such as locking the vehicle’s doors, removing the keys from the vehicle and removing valuables from the inside of the vehicle greatly reduce the risk of theft.
