Ocean City City Council has approved big changes to the city’s trash collection contract, with an added cost of $112,500 through October. Council approved the same change for recycling collection, for a total additional cost of $225,000 to see the city through until the fall. That will allow residents and visitors to continue to use oversized trash cans, up to 64 gallons. The vote comes after attempts by the city administration to convince people not to use cans above a maximum capacity of 32 gallons.Apparently, the larger containers were slowing down the contracted trash collections citywide.
