A promise of pandemic-era distance on the beaches, with no beach tags required, helped bring record numbers of people to the seaside community, which is part of Upper Township. That included everything from cars parking on sand dunes to parking in other people’s driveways. In 2021, the township hired a parking enforcement officer, whose primary duties were in Strathmere. A midsummer ordinance approved by the Township Committee in a unanimous vote will give more authority to parking enforcement.According to the Press of Atlantic City the new ordinance will ensure tickets written by the township’s parking enforcement officer will hold up in court, Committee member Curtis Corson said after the vote.
