More than 100 people have signed a petition for the Cape May community Avalon Manor to get a traffic light. The small community, set along Old Avalon Boulevard, what was once the route into Avalon before the construction of the Ingrams Thorofare Bridge in 1967, has one way in and out by car, an intersection with County Road 601, protected by a stop sign and a flashing light. That’s not enough, Chip French told the Cape May County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday. He’s the president of the Avalon Manor Improvement Association, and was joined by Connie Kindler, the president of a safety committee formed in the community in May.
