The Atlantic City Police Department Surveillance Center helped track the recovery of a handgun and arrest of two individuals. On August 22, 2024, at 12:35 AM, members of the department’s Surveillance Center were actively monitoring the surveillance cameras in the 1000 block of Magellan Avenue. They observed 20 year old Jonathan Valentine in possession of a handgun while sitting in the passenger’s seat of a vehicle. After removing the handgun from his waistband, Valentine gave the weapon to 18 year old Quinia Jones. Jones was in the driver’s seat and began to handle the handgun before turning it back over to Valentine. Valentine exited the vehicle after putting the handgun back in his waistband.
Patrol officers were alerted and quickly arrived. Both Valentine and Jones were placed in custody. Officers recovered the loaded handgun from Valentine.
