ACPO Detectives Receive Training For ASD Responses

Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds today announced the successful completion of
specialized training for detectives in the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office on how to
effectively respond to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The training was led
by Alex Mann, a nationally recognized expert and advocate for autism awareness, whose
mission is to improve the interaction between law enforcement and the autism community.
The training, which took place at the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, focused on
equipping detectives with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize signs of autism,
approach individuals in a way that reduces stress and anxiety, and ensure safe and effective
communication during interactions
