A Lower Township man who allegedly refused to turn over his cellphone to police after he discovered a dead body in a refrigerator in Belleplain State Forest told investigators he had taken property out of the fridge the day before the body was found, according to court documents. John Patrick Tyrrell of the North Cape May section of the township, is charged with obstruction and failure to allow fingerprinting. Tyrrell allegedly said he removed items Dec. 21 before returning a day later to find a body inside, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
