An Atlantic City man who was allegedly driving under the influence before getting into an accident that killed a recently married Mays Landing couple last month in Maurice River Township was released from jail Monday until trial. The Press of Atlantic City reports 25 year old Levon Woods is charged with two counts each of vehicular homicide, strict liability vehicular homicide and violation of a law intended to protect public health and safety. Cumberland County Superior Court Judge Demetrica L. Todd granted Woods’ release with conditions that he must check in with the courts monthly. Thomas Splinter, 57, was driving a Honda Civic west on Route 552 near milepost 19.4 when an eastbound Kia K5 driven by Woods crossed the centerline and struck their vehicle at 4:13 a.m. Feb. 22. Splinter and passenger Nancy Orellana-Splinter, 29, were pronounced dead at the scene.
