Cape May Township Council Discussing Hotel

A hotel could be coming to the ferry terminal, staff with the Cape May-Lewes Ferry told the Township Council at a recent meeting.According to an article in the Press of Atlantic City the area is not zoned for a hotel.One solution mentioned by township attorney Robert Belasco could be the creation of an area in need of rehabilitation, the latest example of communities considering that option to spur development.The proposal has been under consideration for years, ferry operations director Heath Gehrke told members of the council. In the near term, he said, the Delaware River and Bay Authority may put out a request for proposals from potential developers of a hotel.
