Mosquito Illness Kills Mare

A 5-year-old Atlantic County mare died Saturday from eastern equine encephalitis, a mosquito-borne illness found in horses, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture reported Thursday.It is the first reported case of EEE for a New Jersey horse this year, the department said. Symptoms included fever, front and rear ataxia, and inability to rise.

Man Arrested For Stealing Plane

A Pleasantville man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly stole a plane that later crash-landed in a field near Surran’s Nursery on Route 50, State Police said.
