Fire Department Grants

Eight local fire departments were among 21 throughout the state to receive money from New Jersey American Water, the company said Monday. The Bargaintown, Bayview, Cardiff, Egg Harbor City, Linwood, Somers Point, South Egg Harbor and Seaville departments will use the grants for training and to upgrade equipment, the company said in a news release.

Hughes Appointed As Atlantic County Counsel

Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson has announced the appointment of N. Lynne Hughes, Esq. as County Counsel. Hughes has been serving in an acting capacity for the past several months. She replaces former County Counsel James Ferguson, Esq. who recently retired.

Ventnor Boardwalk Repairs

A block-long section of the Boardwalk in Ventnor will be closed to all pedestrian, bicycle and motor vehicle traffic this coming week to accommodate emergency repairs of the wooden way.The Boardwalk will be closed between Cornwall and Derby avenues Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 9-11 as crews replace the supports and decking of the deteriorating boardwalk.
