Family Of Boy Killed In Absecon Crash Want Changes In Detention Procedures

The family of a Philadelphia boy killed in an Absecon car crash earlier this year is calling for changes to detention procedures in cases involving drunken driving. According to the Press of Atlantic City, their calls follow charges being upgraded against Edward Johnston, the Egg Harbor City driver involved in the crash. Johnston, 25, was arrested Nov. 16 and charged with aggravated assault, about four months after the crash that killed 8-year-old Javier Velez. He was initially charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving and released.
