In the first 7 days of 2024 there have been 4 homicides in Atlantic City and PBA Local 24 officials are urging the city to look at hiring additional cops. The Press of Atlantic City reports President Jules Schwenger said in a statement released Monday night. “In all of 2023 we had a total of 7.” Mayor Marty Small Sr. on Tuesday shot back angrily that the union was using the violence for political purposes saying the union is politicizing the murders. Schwenger urged the city to quickly fill six open positions created by officers retiring or leaving for other reasons.
